Ultimate Fade-in slideshow (v1.5) in Safari 2

3) Describe problem: I'm on a Mac. The script works great in Firefox. The script page says it should also work in Safari 2 running on OS 10.4 (Tiger), but it doesn't for me; the slides just follow each other without fading.

The major difference is the addition of tests for and (if supported) use of style.opacity which is supported by Opera and Safari and FF (FF also supports -moz-opacity). The script as listed in the DD library only checked and used (if supported):

• alpha(opacity)
• -khtml-opacity
• -moz-opacity

There were a couple of minor typos in the DD version that I fixed as well. These would only be problems in a few rare browsers like Konqueror (should it ever start supporting -khtml-opacity) and possibly some legacy browsers that support -moz-opacity.

Just noting that I'll second that the script fails in Safari 2, OSX 10.4

Thanks so much. The changes did the trick. Not only does the code now work in Safari 2 on OS 10.4, but it also works in Safari 1.3.2 on OS 10.3.9.

Wow.. somehow I screwed myself. I did some updates to the Mac and rebooted.. and now fade is broken.

A related JavaScript error (which is apparently corrected in this version of the script) in recent versions of WebKit is being tracked here:
