Which Linux distribution do you recommend to a complete Linux newbie? I've heard Fedora is good, but I don't want to work around the bugs in the Core 6 install... Maybe I'll just wait until Core 7 comes out (it's scheduled this May, right?)

Yes, late May, but don't feel herded into one distribution. You could always grab a live CD to play with until then, or try another distribution instead: Kubuntu is said to be good.

Yeah, I though about Kubuntu too. Live CD's look very convenient about nowMy friends seem to have this idea that Linux is really hard to use... One of them said something about having to know how to write computer programs to use it
Part of my motivation for installing Linux is to prove them wrong
