how do i get an os on a flash drive

i want to get knoppix on my 1G flash drive but i do not know how to construct the boot sector.

Is there software that can do it for me?

i want it on a flash drive because i use it (alot) and cd's are VERY slow

you need to figure out how to setup the bios to boot from the USB drive instead of your HDD.
After that, the partitions on the drive are setup automatically at install.
