    Question Windows Vista

If you have Windows Vista, which version do you have and what do you think of it?

Sure, I like it, but driver and software support is limited.
Here's a list of driver and program malfunctions I've noticed:
    Things that Work:
    Mozilla Firefox
    LightScribe Simple Labeler
    LightScribe System Software
    LightScribe ELCU
    CyberLink LabelPrint
    Netscape Navigator
    Opera
    Microsoft Excel XP
    Microsoft Word XP
    Microsoft Access XP
    Microsoft PowerPoint XP
    Microsoft Office Word 2007
    Microsoft Office Excel 2007
    Microsoft Office Access 2007
    Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
    Microsoft Office Publisher 2007
    Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007
    Notepad++
    EditPad Lite
    Audacity
    Microsoft WEFT
    Perfect Process Shield
    Spybot - Search & Destroy
    Ad-Aware SE Home
    avast! Home Edition
    Macromedia FreeHand MX
    Macromedia Fireworks MX
    and more

Sure, that's a long list, but:
    Things that Don't Work:
    Microsoft Outlook XP
    G-Pen560
    Google SketchUp 8
    Security Task Manager
    Macromedia Coldfusion MX
    and more...

Things that Work but Keep Crashing:
    Windows Internet Explorer
    Macromedia Flash MX
    Macromedia Dreamweaver MX

That doesn't sound so bad. Were using WinXp Pro for now but were hoping on getting a new computer soon and from what I understand all new computers come with windows Vista.

I guess the only question I'd ask you is, if Internet Explorer keeps on crashing what other browser are you using?

By the way, I think my wife is gonna be happy to hear that most of the software runs well in Vista. She doesn't want to upgrade because she heard some bad things about Vista.

Anyone else got something to add about Vista?

the premium versions are supposed to come with VM software (i cant find it so i think bill is full of himself!)

currently (no patches) it is not very stable from what i observed (i used home basic and home pro)

i cant get many of my16bit apps or non-theme aware apps to run on it

even less command based programs work on it than on XP

but hey it takes less ram (but more CPU idling if you use the new window style)

but if i HAD to choose one i would get a premium version because it comes with stuff that basic dont (duh!)

EDIT: oh and if you use a low end video card be sure to get the LATEST drivers you can for it (alot of old drivers are incompatible)

    It costs money.
    major downside to vista.
if i wanted it, and i was employed, would take me ~50 hours to afford vista(not including the 14% tax), at 10$ an hour.

I'd rather have a 360. For some reason, whoever is in charge of the gaming dept. is doing things the opposite to the rest of MS. Doing it right.

I reccommend you wait for a service pack or two...

Usually I use IE but sometimes Netscape. It only crashes when you try to download a file with multiple tabs open.

You need to remember that Windows Vista Home Premium OEM only costs $80US.

I'm also thinking that it will be slower on the equivalent RAM used for XP. All the extreme graphics may slow it down. I think Vista is asthetics over performance, to be honest. I would prefer XP.

it is faster than XP ramwise (hard to beleive)
but it is more cpu intensive
