sooper simple question please help asap!

is there an easy way to simply center (horizontally AND vertically) a single image in the middle of a browser window. for some reason using a table cell with the td align set to center and valign set to middle its glitchy. i've tried with css and had the same problems. i must be retarded.

i am a bit confused though, why the valign function worked for me everytime in past years and now it seems to be problematic... what happened?
