    Solitare.

    Or not.

I might write a proxy of some sort to get around the network, if I felt reason to. Not to say you SHOULD. I dunno... I guess I don't like this hypothetical boss.

Open up an instance of OpenOffice Writer and type the phrase:

"I will learn when it is fine to use a z instead of an s."

Until it is time to go home? That's just me though, someone else may be different.

Retheme something... rewrite something... hit "new posts" on DD

You could also take up a hobby that you can do in such times. Bonsai trees? Learn another (human or programming) language?

Landscaping?! That's not in the job description, surely!

You're right, it's not in the job description. When I first got the job, they had me sign some paperwork (basically a contract talking about my job duties). On that list of duties/requirements, they had a clause at the very end stating (simply) will work on projects as needed, no matter what they may be. (Of course they filled it with all types of long words and legal stuff).

I'd rather use VNC to do that.
