Default Ultimate Fade-In Script load issue and question

    1) Script Title:
    Ultimate Fade-In Slideshow (v1.5)

    2) Script URL (on DD):
    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...nslideshow.htm

    3) Describe problem:

Hi. I have one problem and one question with this script that I'm dealing with on my home page.

My home consists of 6 image boxes of 10 rotated images. Therefore, 60 images put through the entire script into 6 arrays of 10.

The problem is when people come to the page with a clean cache for the first time, it takes forever for all the images to come in and start rotating. I have each display line in it's own cell of a table. I put the background of the cell an image that would be in the rotation and that didn't help too much. I realize I can preload on a splash page, but I have no splash page. This is for IE browsers and Safari.

My question regarding this script is one of timing. Can i start the script to run not on the second the page loads but 2 seconds later or 4 seconds later or 6 seconds and so on. I'm looking for a wave effect on the rotating of the images.

Thanks in advance for the help.

First of all, your images should probably go on a diet. Look into image optimization. Also, that sounds like too many images. Consider the situation as if there were no slide shows. How would the page be if it simply had all of those images displayed on it. Do you think that it would take awhile to load it?

The modification that you ask for was worked out here:

This post from that thread contains a link to a demo of the mod:

You also may want to look into:

    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...army/index.htm

It may be configured to look like Ultimate Fade In and it preloads its images as it goes along. Also, if you do use the controls, each show could be set to a manual start, requiring the user to hit a play button before the resource intensive process of loading images would get underway for a given show.
