AJAX Ticker problems
1) Script Title: ajaxticker.js
2) Script URL (on DD): www.derickfaison.com/events07.htm
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...ajaxticker.htm
3) Describe problem:
My ticker never moves pass Initializing ticker... my messages never rotate through I recopied everything and still nothing. Do I need to have some sort of reference file or something on the computer that is running in order for AJAX to work? Please help I have looked at this thing on and off for several months and I don't see any problem. I am new to ajax and javascript

Hi,
I'm having the same problem, but only when using IE7 (haven't tried IE6) the script works fine with Firefox 2!

New findings :
(1) The script works fine when the tickercontent.txt file is placed on my server, but will not function in IE when I'm designing the site on my memory stick, Firefox always works (!) but not IE.
(2) The full path to the file has to be used: http://www.<mydomainname>.com/tickercontent.txt
Hope this helps someone...

If I understood you correctly Jonny, the script does work in IE, but only when viewed online, and not offline? This is normal in IE, as due to security limitations, Ajax can only work when it's making a connection to a server, be that within your server or localhost.

Hi ddadmin,
you are totally correct, the file tickercontent.txt has to be online for IE to work, but can be off-line for Firefox.

RSS ticker still keeps initialising, Firefox
Hello,
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.3 and also have the problem that ticker just keeps initializing.
I downloaded the zip to my PC, unpacked, did change nothing, so all files should be found.
Then, I uploaded the map and all (sub)contents to my server location.
Now, calling
http://www.goudwaard.nl/venta/bbc%20ticker/demo.htm
does not work, see the screenshot I included.
???? Thanks,
Frens

Dols:
In the future, please start a new thread when asking a question of your own, instead of replying to someone else's.
To your question, one obvious (well, not so obvious) problem is that your rssticker.js differs from the original. Did you modify it by using one of the changes posted on DD forums? Anyhow, you'll need to revert back to the original file(s) first: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...ajaxticker.htm
