Heh
I agree with boxxertrumps, get Fedora (unless you're just not comfortable with computers in general, in which case go for Kubuntu).QEMU. Win2K runs nicely with 128MB of RAM, which means I now have the test network I needed, all on one machine. And how did you manage to run windows?

Fedora Core all the way
However, get version 5, not 6. 6 has a few bugs that you have to work out/around during initial install and the overall new features aren't worth the headache.
version 7 is nearing final release, but for now use FC5, so far it is the best version yet.
Yes you can still get 5. Go to fedoraproject.org, click on the get fedora and follow the links to the i386 (or x86_64 if running a 64 bit system) and in the URL you will see ...../1386/6/iso.... whatever.. change folder "6" to "5" and the iso's are still there(all the way back to 2 I believe, but stick with 5)

Really? I haven't found any yet. What bugs in particular?
/EDIT: Oh wait, I remember: GRUB wasn't installed properly by the installer (had to boot to rescue CD and use grub-install manually), and the installer refused to read packages from the CD until I disabled DMA. OK, yeah, use FC5.

That and the install loaded the i586 kernel instead of the i686 kernel so during install you had to specify "linux i686". Not a big deal really unless you didn't know.
Also depending on some of the packages it would install the xen kernel instead of the normal one, made loading xwin impossible as well as most other GUI aspects.
Once it was loaded and updated 6 was/is fine it's just a lot of hassle, especially for a new person.
