    Default Ruby - The Language

    Just came across this little gem of an e-book all about the Ruby language.

    For those like me that have looked at it and then steered away, this might be just what we need to come back to it.

    Very well written, and can also be purchased from amazon in paperback form ($10).

    The author describes it: "An up to date book on Ruby programming, written in a style described as 'a beautiful display of pragmatically chunky bacon, wrapped in a nutshell.' Or something like that."

    PHP Code:
    $result mysql_query("SELECT finger FROM hand WHERE id=3");
    echo
    $result

    Now that you have data in your array, what are you to do with it? I personally like to admire my data, pride myself on my ability to harness all that is the array, and thrust my fist into the air yelling, "I AM SPARTACUS, LORD OF THE ARRAY!" Then my wife looks at me like I am crazy, it gets all weird, and I get back to work. I suppose that may or may not work for you; most people opt to simply use their array to hold stuff and call it when they need it (which is not nearly as fun).
    Very nice Yes, Ruby looks interesting.

    /EDIT: I just noticed that the occasional daft typo exists in the examples in that tutorial.
