I am new to all this for those who do not know, and I am trying to build a website, I am on a page which I would like to set as a chat room. Could someone tell me if there are scripts to apply to my page that will creat a chat room, or how would I go about trying to creat a chat room please.

There are chat scripts all over the internet, why don't you use those? If you want to create your own then here are some tutorials(AJAX applied):
