post data redirect...

I want to do a bit of processing using a PHP script (namely, check an imap connection to see if a mailbox exists...) if the box exists i want to send data via post to an asp page for further processing... how can i do this??? sorry im a noob and have no idea :S im trying to use http_post_data/http_post_fields... can someone put up a small example of posting data from php... id be very very greatful
