Price and spec Comparison Guide script

I want to compare around 12-15 Items' price, and 3 or 4 specifications in a simple table. A user could click on 2 or three items at a time and then the table would be generated:

Is it possible to do this via CGI scripting only or is PHP and mySQL needed?

I recently learned a technique to rotate individual tables from dynamic drive, and an extension of this could help me avoid the whole php/sql route, which I probably don't have time to learn then implement on this particular project.
