Thanks, in advance, for any assistance thrown my way over this.

Has anybody been successful using this script with an image in the BAR section?

I have tried and can't figure out where to place my image tag, or whether I am only supposed to use my image location.

arrghh!

Any example of a working menu with an image on the sidebar is all I need.

use this. this is an old bug, you have to use all caps for <IMG>tag:

instead of:
barText="SIDE MENU";

try this:
barText='<IMG border="0" src="yourimage.gif" width="25" height="25">';
