Default best way to create a scrolling filmstrip of images?

    Hello everyone,
I'm an immature web developer/photographer/photoshopper/InDesigner, trying to learn everything that I can and make a living along the way.

On my site www.phcdesigns.com I would like to put something that looks like scrolling 35mm slide film. I envision at least one frame visible and undistorted at a time but maybe as many as 4 frames at a time. The ends could be cut off square but some sort of perspective may be better. Something like curled ends, I think. Overall I would like the abilibt to scroll through as many images as possible, at least 20.

Is something like this available on Dynamic Drive? If it is not available what would be the best technology for me to use to create it?Javascript? Flash? Something else?

I am utilizing DD menus and gallery. Check it out: phcdesigns.com

    Thank you as always,
    Bob Lewis
PS Ability to position this film strip randomly would be wonderful, horizontal or vertical would be good.

    That could work really well.
Just outline each of your images to look like a filmstrip.

Thank you for the suggestion, dj. I had looked at many DD slide shows but the cMotion script that you suggested is just what I was thinking of.

I'm just starting to learn flash so I can't really do anything with it yet but the cMotion will work very well. Maybe in the future I can come up with something "flashier".

    Thanks,
    Bob

If you can find a solution in javascript, I'd generally recommend that. If you can't find something that fits what you need, then flash is right to use.

Flash is kinda a last resort (for compatiblity and several other things), but it is useful in certain situations where, mainly, user interactivity and/or complex* graphics are important.
(*lots of motion, layers/transparency, looping, nonrectangular shapes in some cases, etc.)

http://script.aculo.us/ is a good alternative to Flash.

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the advice about flash and aculo.
The gallery script on the gucci site looks great. I'd like to use that if I can find a customer who needs that sort of site.
