Default What CMS are they using?

I really like this clean look and design the guys over at
http://www.revision3.com/ are using. Are they using some sort of CMS that they designed in house or is this a piece of software I can purchase?

    No clue.

They could likely be just using their own code.

    Design works well.

If I had to guess, I would say the CMS is in-house. However, the layout of the site should be independdant of the back end. Find yourself a good designer. Any CMS should do.

if you are dealing with a number of sites CMS will do a lot good but if you are dealing with a single site i don't know whether a CMS based site will give you much advantage

CMS means content management system. Frequently, this uses a php based admin page to control the content of pages, storying them in a database.
Something like a forum for a single admin, to "post" pages, content, etc.
