Slash Dot Menu Moving Everything

I have the menu positioned off to the side on my page but when you expand/contract it, it moves the text on the right along with it. I've tried using frames but I would perfer not to as I want sychonized scrolling. What should I do to fix this?

It would help if you could provide a demo.

In the demo at the above link it is show, the text "Some Text" Moves up and down as the menu does. I've tried using a table but it didnt help any. I suspose if someone could make sense of this tutorial (http://www.webreference.com/programm...pt/jf/column2/) for me it would help. I tried it but I kept getting javascript errors. If that worked this whole moving text wouldnt matter because it would be in another frame.
