Need exclusive sections for Book Reviews and Tutorials, Isn't it?

Hi All,

As a member of this ever growing community I feel we should have an exclusive area for the below mentioned things:

1. A Books Review Section

In this section members can post their reviews about the latest/useful books regarding Web programming/Web Administration/Web server/ Web Designing/Other type of books. So that it will do good for newbies like me to get a correct idea about books before buying them.

2. A Tutorials section

Here if a member wants to post any tutorial/explanation on any topic they can do that. So that If a newbie visit the site and looking for some specific items they can search this section to get hold of some topics.

I would like to know you people's opinion about this.

Usenet is a far more reliable source of information than any book. For a start, it's peer-reviewed by numerous experts (potentially thousands), both profession and amateur. It also evolves; books don't change once printed.

You could try looking at the suggestions in a post to comp.lang.javascript, though I've had no experience of any of them (though I seem to remember that news.individual.net came highly recommended, especially whilst it was still free ). You could also use Google Groups, itself, but if you go down that road, there are a few things to bear in mind:

• Make sure you reply properly, or you'll just annoy a lot of people.
• Due to the fact that people haven't followed the above, and the generally poor etiquette of Google Groups posters in general, some regulars within various groups automatically killfile any posts from Google.
• The thread list sometimes gets broken, particularly when the Subject line changes within a thread.

I suppose I should recommend groups whilst I'm at it:

• For markup: comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html (aka ciwah), and alt.html.
• For CSS: comp.infosystems.www.authoring.stylesheets
• For client-side scripting: comp.lang.javascript
• For server-side scripting: comp.lang.php, comp.lang.python, microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.*, or microsoft.public.inetserver.asp.* (depending on language).

Although the name of alt.html would suggest that only markup is on-topic, pretty much anything related to Web development is acceptable. However, other groups are far more strict: ciwah, for example, should only recieve posts that relate to markup (HTML or XHTML) on the Web (hence the www). Browser-specific questions should be asked in browser-specific groups.

Watch out for the junk that enters the alt.html. Unfortunately, there are a few idiots that think their mindless rubbish shouldn't be contained to their own groups, and cross-post into a.html. If your newsreader can filter by group (unfortunately Thunderbird can't at the moment), kill anything that comes from the groups alt.2600, alt.usenet.kooks or alt.alien.vampire.flonk.flonk.flonk.
