Floating menu... within a table?

Hello to all, i am looking for an answer for the following...
I have a page with a 200 pixel column in which i want to install a floating/sliding table( in which i can add images/html) that will STAY within and resitricted by the borders that column regardless of browser window size/resolution etc.

BUT the issue is that the menu position is relative the the edge of the browser window.

I have searched and cant seem to find anything that fits my needs, any help appreciated.
