Screen Resizing!! (On Window Up)

Okay I have no idea where else to post this to I'll post it here. This is hard to explain.

For example:

I am looking at my desktop. I have a window minimized. I open it up, then the entire screen increases about 1-5 pixels, then when i minimize it the entire screen decreases its size 1-5 pixels.

It is so annoying!

It started happening when I changed my screen resolution to 1024x768, but I don't think it happened as soon as I did it.

I used to use 800x600 a lot and it never did this.

Why is it doing this???

The same thing happens to my browser window sometimes as well. It happened to me when I surf the internet for anything, not just testing out my own scripts. So i dont think it has to do with a script, or needs a script to fix it. If i had to guess, its something wrong with the browser itself or with the moniter.

I'd say it was an OS bug, or an X bug if you're running X.

i dont even have to have a browser running, its the entire monitor.

you would think 1-5px aint much but when your dealing with the whole screen its annoying and noticeable.

I'm not real clear on the issue here. A browser (in Windows) when open on the screen has three buttons on the upper right corner. A minus, a toggle between a box and two overlapping boxes, and an X. These stand for minimize (to the taskbar), a toggle between restore down and maximize, and close, respectively.

Now which of these buttons are we talking about? I've seen where using just the middle toggle button will cause the exact situation described but, the 'restore down' size is simply the last used 'restore down' size that the browser was. This can be changed when the browser is in 'restored down' mode by drag resizing the window along its edges in one dimension or at the corners in two dimensions. Whatever this last 'restore down' size was will usually be remembered. However, if a script resizes the window (especially for the IE browser), this is the 'restore down' size that will be remembered until changed.

Or is there a problem with the minus button?

it has nothing to do with buttons or browsers. just sometimes when a window is opened or closes, the entire area of the monitor display is increased or decreased.

it increases when a window is opened, and decreases when closed.

its as if the outer border of pixels appears and dissapears.

Could be your graphics drivers too.

Maybe there is a black border on your wallpaper image, or it is somehow toggling between the stretch and center mode of display. What OS and service pack is this? It is Windows, right?

its deffinatly a monitor problem seeing as the taskbar at the bottom moves too.

i use windows 98 se

i do a screen capture or video of it if u wanna see.

its a difference of about 1-5px, but its annoying.

i juist noticed it moves more horizontal than vertical.

and its not like pixels are appearing, its that the screen gets bigger.

and if the wallpaper was stretch i would deff notice it cuz the wallpaper i use has a much higher resolution than my screen, so thats not it

As Twey said it may be a driver problem. Most driver issues happen to occur with Win98 and Win2K.

This may sound simple and easy, but have you:

Rebooted the computer? Many times windows will find discrepencies during a reboot and fix any driver problems.

Checked your drivers for your monitor and video card (I am willing to bet you have ATI...) Check that there are no newer driver versions, and if there are, download and install them.

Do a defrag. If Windows has a hard time finding rescources it will act funny.
