background image with an image fl right...

I'm rather new to css...
So far I have a background image on my page, a navigation bar and a google AJAX search thing (nav bar and google search on the left). I'm wanting to put content in the center and a strip of pics down the right side. It's being requested that the content and the strip down the right side be dynamic so when viewed on a larger screen the strip stay on the right and the content fills the gap.
I'm looking for advice (a lot of help) in figuring out how to do this.
