    Default Creating a gallery

    Hi All,
I'm hoping someone will be able to help with a wee problem I'm finding creating a site for a family business.

I want to create a "photo gallery" within which there are small pictures, which when clicked on take you to a bigger version of it. On top of this I would also like the option for the user to scroll through all the "large pictures" should they choose or return to the little pictures.

A couple of people have mentioned using PHP script, but I Know nothing about it and I have a feeling that Geocities don't allow this.

I found a couple of scripts that came close to what I wanted, but wouldn't allow for clicking on the little picture that would jump to the sequence of the big picture. (Yes I know I can be picky!!)

What I want can be viewed on

    http://www.geocities.com/taffyscelti...Fireplace.html

but as you can well guess this was a pain to do, and really don't want to do it for the million and one photo's that will eventually be added to the site.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Doug

The problem with geocities is they only allow php/sql when you buy the "pro" hosting plan. for the free, or basic plans you don't get php or sql.

You should stick with DHTML or js for this project. And while you may not be able to get exactly what you are after (as picky as you are ) you can find some nice scripts that will do similar things in an eye pleasing way.

For example, instead of scrolling, why not load the larger images in the same page as the thumbs? You can put say, 10 per page, and instead of a scrolling through pages, like your linked example, you can just put a link to the next page.

This Link is a free javascript code that does just that.

Thanks JR & Blizzard for your responses.

JR - as mentioned Geocities doesn't allow PHP (which would explain why I couldn't get any of them to work!! )

Blizzard - Thanks very much for that link, that could be the answer to all the problems, so think I shall bite the bullett and run with that instead, It's probably better than what I was wanting anyway, so once again thanks very much

    Cheers

LOL I only knew about geocities cause I have had about 5 sites with them in the past. LOL

Great learning spot for html and such, but the freebies do suck when you start hitting bandwidth limits, LOL

Yeah I Know exactly what your saying, but try telling that to the person holding the purse strings

Page hasn't been coming along too good, got work which is getting in the way of me really sitting down and looking at it (the manager doesn't like it when I use work time for personal stuff ) although first try hasn't gone to well, I must be missing something in the "Head" section (hey that's of the web page I'm on about!!) when I click on another picture it loads the picture in a new page!!

But once I crack it it can be seen on
