windows explorer customized folders

I've noticed recently that windows explorer / customize folder / photo album puts a 'watermark' image in the lower right hand corner of windows explorer. At first I thought it might be a virus. Anyone else ever notice this?

You mean as listed under "Watermark" here?

No but, I bet it is a bit in a similar vein. This one appears to be 'standard' on certain multimedia editions of XP. Here is a portion of my desktop:



And, it is not IE but, as I said, windows explorer. The two programs are closely related and share at least one major .dll but, windows explorer is primarily for file system (local and networked) exploration.

If I change the 'folder customization' to anything other than 'photo album', the watermark image shown here disappears.

For the purpose of browsing files and the Internet, they're exactly the same, except for the interface. There are some extra functions that explorer.exe handles (such as the task bar and start button), but no major differences. This is most obviously seen with Active Desktop -- rendering the desktop is explorer.exe's job.

If you close explorer.exe via the ctrl alt del menu (task manager), it will close both all active IE windows and all folders.
Same thing... just different skins... I think.
