transparent menu

Hi -
I can't seem to find a solution for this without paying for software that will generate it for me.
What I want is a horizontal menu and when the user moves the cursor over one of the headings a dropdown box with more links drops down from the menu. I want the background to be semi-transparent and I want the text links not to be. Then when the user rolls over the link I want it to bold.

here is an example of what I'm talking about

from yahoo sports covered of the olympics. If you roll over SPORTS you'll see what I'm going for. I've disected this code to the best of my abilities and can get it to work if I have only 1 dropdown menu, but I need 3 dropdowns that all act like that.

If someone can help me out that would be great or point me in the right direction.
