How do I make a 'thought of the day' script?

Although most people would say I'm too old to learn, I have created and been expanding a website (ecclesiasticaceltica.org) which now needs scripts in order to function in a more dynamic way. Can anyone direct me with the following problem: I need to supply visitors with a 'thought for the day' which I now input manually. How would I begin to learn in order to write an automated script which inputs a selection from about 100 'thoughts for the day' (one thought per day). My trouble is, I'm nowhere near as clever as my Bishop thinks I am.

First decide on what technology you want to use. PHP or JavaScript might be an option here.

Then you could search online for 'JavaScript thought of the day' script or 'PHP thought of the day' script and see what comes up.
