Just to clarify, when it says Richard, it means to say the shortened version, however I can't say that without John's hacky color tags.
Yeah, Google's no help locating it. It was like an old Vaudeville routine that I think made it into one of those Bob Hope (type) movies in the late 40's/early 50's. A play on words. The guy says:
"How are ya, How are ya, how are ya?"
And the girl answers:
"Oh go on!"
Only the movie was set in the Pacific . . .
Maybe it was from South Pacific?
I don't think so, that's as far as I can tell a serious and thoughtful romantic drama that highlights racial prejudice as it affected relationships at that time and still relevant. Not the sort of film where you would see something like what I'm remembering, though I suppose it's possible.
I'm thinking more along the the lines of a Bob Hope/Bing Crosby "Road To" movie. Though I looked through those and didn't see any that seemed particularly likely. But that's the sort of film I'm thinking of (an older comedy, and a particularly vacuous one at that, probably also containing a fair amount of what's know as 'slapstick'), perhaps not with Hope/Crosby, or perhaps with one or both of them but not a "Road To" movie . . . If I ever see it again, I'll be sure to take notice. I thought it was a great pun, especially given the context.
