Image Thumbnail Viewer issue

Hi this script works great except for one thing - if you click on an image immediately the page loads it opens the image in a new page rather than the magnified script. See www.campbellwebdesign.co.nz/templates.html
If you give the page a few seconds after fully loading the script works fine, but if you click on an image as soon as you see it, ie as soon as the page is visible or refreshed, then it opens in a new page.
This also happens with the demo on www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail.htm
Seems that the page needs a few seconds after loading before the script kicks in. I wouldn't have noticed this as I've not been clicking images immediately my page loads, but people reported it to me that they have.
Can this be fixed at all?
