I'm not sure what browser you are using but the effect looks perfect in Mozilla (FF, NS), a little too fast in IE - IE is always faster with this script. I'd put in something like this where it says:

} setTimeout('fall()',20); }

I'd put:

} var rate=document.all&&!window.opera? 32 : 20 setTimeout('fall()',rate); }

12 (milliseconds) seems like the right equalizing factor between the two browsers. I'll see what I can do about the swaying but, at that speed or possibly just a little slower, it looks really good as is.

OK, here is where the swaying comes from:

sx = Speed[i]*Math.cos(Cstep[i]);

If you change it to:

sx = Speed[i]*Math.cos(Cstep[i])/6;

(dividing it by 6) The swaying is markedly reduced, if you set it to 0:

Code:

sx = 0

There will be no swaying at all. Using any other whole number will not work. The code ordinarily alternates between positive and negative values.

With reduced swaying, you may want to bump up the values for 'rate' from my previous post.

thank you john.... its working now.... I got the speed where i had wanted it... and now the swaying is working great thanks to you... guess i should go back to my calculus.. lol....

MSN Groups???

Will this snow fall effect work on MSN Groups pages? When I try to set it up I have no <body> I just have <Tbody> but when I put it in right after that and it doesn't work. Also I have like 5 different areas with <Tbody>. Can someone explain in REALLY simple terms how to put snow on msn groups. Sorry if this is long but heres the HTML code for the page I'm trying to add the snow to. I have to split it into 2 replies.

I'd try putting it at the very top of what you have there, above everything else.

Well, I tried that and I just get my normal page with all the HTML Script for the falling snow above it.

In that case, you may not be able to use it on MSN Groups pages. However, since the script is bounded by script tags, it shouldn't show up at all, even if it doesn't work, unless the part of the page I cannot see, above what you provided in your message, contains an open display tag that is closed after the end of what you provided. If so, we may be able to close it and reopen later. Also, we must consider that if this is the cause, then MSN Groups pages may not technically allow scripts, do you know their policy on this? If they allow scripts, give me a link to the live page, with or without the script on it, so I can see what the prospects are for placing this script on it.
