HTACCESS Question About Restricting Access

3) Describe problem: I have a site that will serve only as a storage for files to be downloaded from multiple locations after login. I was wondering if it's possible to restrict access for an individual user to only one folder (of many) if they're logged in. In other words I want user "A" to only access folder "A", user "B" to access only folder "B", etc. Is this possible?

Well, I figured out one way to do it but if there's a cleaner way can someone let me know? I created individually numbered htpasswd files (.htpasswd1, 2 etc.) in the root folder and used those file names for the path in each .htaccess file. Kind of confusing but it was the only solution I could come up with.
