loading image while popup opens

I am looking for a script that will show a loading image while a new popup window is being called. I am not talking about placing an image inside of the new popup. Something similar similar to the thumbnail image loaders loading box you can see here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail.htm
