Jason's Date Input Calendar onClick to change the showing date

is it possible to have something pass a value to the script?

i have an application where i need a way of when the user clicks on a link (a whole bunch of dates with articles attached) it needs to pass that records date value to the date script and show..

link gets a onClick="MM_setTextOfTextfield('articletext','','this is where the text goes');"

but i dont have a way of passing the date over to the

<script>DateInput('datefrom', true, 'DD-MON-YYYY', '13-03-2008')</script>

if no date has been sent aka user clicked a record it must default to the current date

is this possible?
