This would hold true in just about any manufacturer, and hell alot of placed besides it, especially big companies. Its alot easier for them to just ship you a small part like that then try to go through all the different resources and change of hands.

eg. Its because of Bill Gates that so many people "hate the computer" and I bet if you were to poll everyone that has a complaint about a computer 98% of them would be running on some brand of windows and/or other microsoft product.

The most commonly cited are issues of performance, stability, and security. For example, the number of vira on Windows is something like ninety-five times the amount on other operating systems. There are various reasons and myths as to why this is so; I think this article sums up the security issue reasonably well. Stability... you only have to look at the fact that rebooting periodically and even reinstalling the whole OS occasionally is considered normal in the Windows world. Performance is a lot harder to measure, especially given Microsoft's tendency to make things monolithic wherever possible rather than modular.

The ethical implications of Microsoft's business model and aggressive tactics are a reason that many never realise, or, in a lot of cases, care about; there are issues there too, though.

I think about sums it up

Wow, i feel so common-ignorant and brainwashed . . . I've never bought a computer (or witnessed one being bought) that didn't come with windows os . . . though, quite frankly, i'm starting to get sick of it. The server for my websites is a linux and it's always working whereas my pc is always not working and it never occured to me that my pc could actually work as well as my server, but i don't know if i can make that switch . . . I feel like an old married woman considering divorcing her abusive husband, lol . . .

I've never had any (major) problems with Windows before.

I believe you.

But I just had to get my computer out of the shop because it was so flooded with worms and viruses and spyware that I could not use it. The last time I took my computer to the shop was three months ago for the same reason. I ran the same antivirus program three times today and each time it caught about eighty something viruses and spyware instances.

It might not be the os. But then again, it just might.

Use a firewall then.

A firewall is ineffective against most of today's malware, since almost every time it's hidden in something that the user has downloaded, like a web page, an image, a program, an email...

Complete imbeciles will kill their computer no matter what operating system they run.

It's true, a bad user beats a good OS hands-down. A good user can usually (with difficulty) counteract a bad OS, but it's always a lot more effort, and the end result tends to be inferior to the same user on a good OS.
