For the non-technical, possibly. There's also a project dedicated to allowing Ubuntu and Windows to coexist on the same partition, but as yet it's still in its infancy.
The alternative is to repartition your hard drive. The disadvantage to this is that, as far as I'm aware, the only tools capable of non-destructively resizing an NTFS partition are commercial.
Yeah... I can't risk messing up the hard drive I'm using now, my father is the principal of a high school and has alot of important files on here. I'll just wait until I can get my hands on another harddrive.
I use Win 98, Win XP Home, Win XP Pro, Fedora Core 5, Fedora Core 6, Win 2000, Ubuntu (although it's only been a few days, and I must say I really do not like it at all), I have gentoo on a drive somewhere, and I have knoppix on c.d. and freedos as well.

i hate ubuntu my freind had a bunch of the cds and was handing them around i used the live cd version i think it gave me cancer

Linspire is very user-friendly, but it makes the Windows-esque error of sacrificing security for ease of use -- the default configuration advocates using root for everyday use, for example.
That is accually pretty dumb but it is still safer than windows none-the-less
