Help!! how to view on Mac & PC

hi
i'm new to web design and busy learning to create web sites using CSS and XHTML. i am using a mac at work (in my spare time) to create a web page but when i open it at home on a pc it reflows all text and pics!!!

i've been told it has something to do with margins and padding is this right??
Is there a piece of code i can enter in CSS to make sure it views ok on pc and mac? or is it trial an error?

It's trial and error. :)
But it depends more on the browser than the operating system.

thank you for replying, ive managed to tweak my margins etc to get it to work on a pc, it overflows on a mac, but for the site i created itl be for home users anyway so theyl have a pc so should be ok (i hope!!!)
