View Full Version : Snow on Top of Menu

12-03-2004, 12:29 PM
I am using HV Menu and Snow Effects. on North Shore Senior High School (http://www.galenaparkisd.com/nssh/main.php) (you might have to choose Christmas Joy from the theme chooser.)
Anyways, if u look, u can see that the snow falls behind the menu instead of in front of it. Is there something that I can do to fix this? Also is there a way that I can change the snow code so the snow travels down to the bottom of the page? (I have tried changing the document size on the java script code, but that doesn't work)

hello nssh,
now i am no expert, but i think i can help you with one of your problems. i am using the same script, and also have a minor problem with it. first i'll help you get the snow to fall the full height of your page. look at the code and find this line.

function snowNS() { // Netscape main animation function

now look 3 lines down to find this line.

if (yp[i] > doc_height-50) {

you will have to estimate the height of your page. now subtract 600 from the number you estimated. so if you estimated 900, you subtract 600, you end up with 300. now just change the -50 to +300. like this.

if (yp[i] > doc_height+300) {

that will work for netscape browsers. now do the same for this part of the code for internet explorer and netscape6 browsers.

function snowIE_NS6() { // IE and NS6 main animation function
for (i = 0; i < no; ++ i) { // iterate for every dot
yp[i] += sty[i];
if (yp[i] > doc_height-50) {

i hope this helps! i know it works on internet explorer, but i have no way of checking it on netscape or netscaoe6

good luck!,
