View Full Version : Drop Down menu w/descript for file access?

Is there a way to access .pdf files instead of http: websites using the Dynamic Drive 'Drop down menu w/ description'? I would like to use a drop down menu to access .pdf files (in a new window). 2 drop down menu's with file access on a single page is even better. :)

Just set the href or link to the name of the pdf file. If there is an option for a target or if you can add a target attribute, make it _new or _blank.

Warning: Please include a link to the DD script in question in your post.
PLEASE: Include the URL to your problematic webpage that you want help with.

Notes: Browser and system configuration dictate how .pdf files will be opened on the user's computer but, on most setups, the above advice will get the .pdf to open in Acrobat in a new window.

Thank-you Professor. I'll try this but I'm working in a private Intranet where the .pdf files are reviewed by many folks but not outside of our network. I'll try to simulate the process and load it on another, personal website if I need more instruction. KENTOWN

I almost had this working. The .pdf file opened at one point. I used attribute target="newwin" in the option tag on several links and when the web was published again the links failed. Some of the http: links work and they open in a new window. I still can't figure out how to get the .pdf files to work.
I placed this javascript in a web I'm using for parctice. Please check the Dynamic Drive drop down menu at the bottom of the index page. Thanks. KENTOWN
