View Full Version : Problem with Anylink menu with Simpleviewer-embedded pages

04-04-2015, 07:10 PM

1) Script Title: Anylink menu

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/dropmenuindex.htm

3) Describe problem: I have been using this script for a while on simple HTML pages (nancychuang.com (http://nancychuang.com)) . But now I'm trying to build another simple site at nancychuang.com/design (http://nancychuang.com/design). It works on the basic pages, but on the page with a Simpleviewer (Flash) gallery, the menus don't show. UPDATE: Now it's only a problem in Safari. The menu seems to be hidden behind the Flash file (but making the background "transparent" only makes that area black instead of white). You can see if you hover where the menus are supposed to be the links still work, but the menu simply doesn't appear. Can't even use the "Develop > User Agent" function of Safari to view as other browsers that definitely work, like Firefox and Chrome.

Any advice? Thank you!

OK, final update...sorry for all this confusion! I only just realized my Safari browser was out of date. Updated it and the menu is working again.

It's not the background that needs to be transparent, rather the wmode. It's unclear to me exactly how you do that with simpleviewer. It would be something like** (additions red):

<script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
var params = {};
params.wmode = 'transparent';
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '895px', '725px', 'FFFFFF', true, flashvars, params);
<div id="sv-container"></div>

The browser cache may need to be emptied and or the page refreshed to see changes.

**I tested this and it appears to work - for solving the issue in Safari. However, if you need more help on how to add this (wmode transparent) see simpleviewer's help and support pages. That's where I checked, and the above appears to be the recommended and working method for use with your current syntax. Feel free to ask me additional questions about this though.

You cannot be assured other folks will not have out of date browsers. At one time all browsers had this problem. See my previous post in this thread for the solution.
