Windows 7, Home Premium. I had a hidden icon (for PGP), thought I did not need it, so I deleted it from the hidden icon tray. As it turns out, I do need it, so I tried to restore it. I went to hidden icons/customize got the notification area icons screen. I then selected setting for PGP Tray "Show icon and notifications" and clicked "OK". That produces the message, "This notification icon is not currently active. It will be shown the next time it becomes active." I do not know what that means. I have shut down and restarted the system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PGP. I repeated the customization process. I cannot figure out how to get that icon back.

Can someone help me?

mlegg, problem solved. There was an unobtrusive box in the PGP display that needed to be checked. Thank you for your suggestion.
