1) Script Title: AnyLink JS Drop Down Menu v2.3

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/dropmenuindex.htm

3) Describe problem: Menu links stopped working in Firefox 30.0

I installed and all was swell - then poof - clicks wouldn't click. All the menus dropped down correctly, the link URL was shown correctly in the status bar, but when you try to click - NADA.

Looked up on google and people do report issues with dropdown menus stopping on Firefox. Mozilla has acknowledged and their advice was to restart the browser or run it in safe mode. (Not an option - given you can't very well tell every visitor that if they want to visit your pages, they'll have to run their browser in safe mode.)

HAS ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS?
THANK YOU!

The demo page for this script:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/dropmenuindex.htm

works fine here in Firefox 30. So there's a good chance that there's some problem with your implementation. Very likely conflicting CSS that places an unseen element between the mouse and the link that you cannot click. But it could be something else.

If you want more help, please provide a link to the problematic page so we can check it out.

Hi John -

1) http://www.centralwelding.com/14-index-DD-REBUILD.html
It appears to be working now (may have been a different doctype and setting the linktarget:'' in menucontents.js also may have resolved something.
QUESTION: Now the menu bar has doubled in height (was about 30px); how can I control that?

2) http://www.centralwelding.com/14-index-DD-REBUILD-withSLIDESHOW-ADDED.html
QUESTION: Is there any reason why the slideshow would corrupt the menu operation?

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Debra

As for 1) you don't have a menu per se. I see several nested tables with links in the inner one's row of td elements. Some of those links have p elements around them. The p has default top and bottom margins so will inflate the height of the td elements, then in turn the tr, the table and then the other tables around that. When I click on a link and am taken to a page with a different looking set of links, I see a single table whose td elements have no p elements in them and whose heights are set to 38px. Using different styles (setting the td elements involved in the links to a height of 27px) and markup (get rid of the p elements I just mentioned) will enable you to make what you are referring to as the 'menu' shorter.

2) Could you be more specific? What exactly isn't happening with the links? They seem to work here in Firefox 30.

Regarding 2) I think it's mute. I've been using DD for years, so when I got totally stuck all kinds of questions came up.
I'm still studying CSS (have been using duct tape since 1995) so, maybe there's still a no-tables site in my future.

Thanks for all your help.
