The 3D Drop In Notifier Panel ( http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/notifier.htm ) works great in all browsers, but somehow it overlaps the page in IE6, instead of pushing it down. Is there a way to fix this?
All browsers except IE6:

IE6:
5317

I wouldn't bother. IE6 is as dead as a doornail.

Actually it doesn't look or work right in IE 8 or current Opera either. These are more troubling than IE 6 and my advice would be to do something that excludes these and any other browsers from this script while making its content (if important) available in some other way.
An alternative would be to not use this script unless the above feature gets incorporated into it.

Shoot. Wasn't aware that it's not working in Opera and IE8. Off my list it goes then...
The obvious thing comes to mind: Maybe the original creator of the script should look into it. What's the use of the script if its browser compatibility is so low.

I'll take a look at the script later today for IE8 and Opera compatibility.

I'm starting to have a closer look at it myself. I'm pretty sure it will need an IE 8 fallback as that browser never supported the required css. Opera may or may not be able to handle the css. I think for those browsers that cannot handle it, a simple slide down/up action should probably work.

Thank you ddadmin and John. Will be waiting for your updates on that. Overall it's / could be a really decent advertising tool.

Yep that's what I was thinking too John. Looking at script now.

Ok script has now been updated to v1.1 (both .js and .css files updated), which should address the compatibility issues in IE8-9 and Opera. In both browsers an alternate swipe down animation has also been added when revealing the panel.

That looks and works much better in those browsers!
Playing around with it during testing points out to me that if the default state on page load is open, and you are on a long page, navigate away, then use the back button, this script will take you to the top of the page, loosing one's place. Just something for folks to bear in mind when deciding which page(s) to use this on.
Using it only on shorter pages and/or utilizing the 'session' for the freq setting will minimize that.
But does it have to do that? Can it know if it's already below the fold to just stay there? Or could there be another workaround?

Interesting observation John! I reckoned most people would be using the script in "session" mode anyway, but your suggestion is well taken.

It's actually working in IE6 as well now. It was still overlapping the site a bit, but when I added *margin-bottom: 20px; to .notify it started pushing it the way it does in other browsers. Thanks for the fix.
