View Full Version : Jim's DHTML Menu 5.7 Help

I'm a newbie to implementing javascript/dhtml on web sites, but not a newbie to web design(have been doing it for roughly 4 years now. Anyway, I wanted to implement a nicer menu to my site and came across Jim's awesome menu. I customized it to fit my site's design scheme and had it working on the main section of my site perfectly fine. Here's where things get complicated, though: I have subdirectories on my site. I have been wracking my brains for the last few days trying to figure out how to get the menu to display on pages within the subdirectories. I've read these forums and tried all the different suggestions(editing browser.js, making absolute links etc.) to no avail. I just can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I keep getting one of two errors: menus is undefined or object expected. No matter what I do, I cannot get rid of the error. Here's my coding for the pages in the subdirectories:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.12stonesrocks.com/public_html/includes/browser.js">

* Jim's DHTML Menu v5.7- Jim Salyer (jsalyer@REMOVETHISmchsi.com)
* Visit Dynamic Drive: http://www.dynamicdrive.com for script and instructions
* This notice must stay intact for use

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.12stonesrocks.com/public_html/includes/config.js"></script>

And in the body I have the <body onload="init()">. Any suggestions on getting the menu to show up in pages inside of subdirectories?

At the very beginning of the browser.js file, try setting this path as an absolute path:

//---- Set this variable only! ----
var buildDir = "includes/";
