I need something that will allow us to assist our customers with live support. Nothing fancy AND it should be totally free (no copyright stuff, etc.).

A phone number and a phone line? ;)

It would help if you could explain the type of features you are looking for. As a starting point, maybe something like a live chat script could form the basis of your search, so maybe try "Ajax chat script" in a Google search.

I need a live chat support script. My main thing is, I don't want any script that will have a copyright note on it. In other words, I want something that is workable with no strings attached.

It always looks goofy when you go to some busy site, open their chat and it says: Supported by: "Some Website's Name".
