Hi Folks,

My site formerly contained deep links to another site. Now the same deep links from my site only bring up the home page of the target site. To get to the page to which I wanted to link, users must navigate there from the home page. Can this requirement be circumvented?

A Friendly Reminder to All
Dynamic Drive does not allow discussion about how to violate the Terms of Service of other sites.
This thread will be closed if the discussion goes in that direction.

If this is a sudden, recent change, then it is likely intentional. If a site owner wishes to prevent deep linking, that is their prerogative, and you should respect their decision.

Your best option is to contact the owner/webmaster of the other site to discuss allowing your links.

Well, yes. But then again it could just be as a result of reorganization of the other site with no intention of thwarting deep linking.

Can you give us a link to your page and tell us about a link (what to click on to see the problem) on it that's being thwarted?

My site is http://www.njexpungements.com/faq.php#Eligibility. About five paragraphs from the end of the Q16 answer are three links to the FBI. The first of the three was a deep link that now returns the FBI home page. (The second and third were also deep links which, since they no longer worked, I changed to point to .pdf pages on my own site that I uploaded.)

Best I can tell, there no longer is such a file. Perhaps this is the replacement:

...and it let me go there directly from the link in your reply. I guess they just changed the page names. Then when I linked to the resulting non-existant page, I just went to the index.

Thank you.
