I just love Dynamic Drive's Image Thumbnail Viewer II - it does almost exactly what I want...almost...

I've been workin on my site for ages - over a year in fact! In-between many tech/personal probs and other projects.
During that time I've tried various javascript galleries and even wandered into the realms of 'instant gallery'
freeware like JAlbum and numerous others, but none of them do what TNV2 does for me - I like it.
When I get my head round it, I can understand and control the outcome.
I've asked this question before (seems such a simple thing to me!)
Here I am again - asking the same question..

Using this javascript, how on earth can I add captions/text descriptions to my big pics?

For you reference, my basic (test) site is online now and has been for a while.
As you can see I've messed around with tooltips to get a caption result but I'm not happy with that.
Seemingly this causes problems to others (browsers?)
Apart from the tooltip experiment, it remains unchanged: I do all my experimenting work offline.

I don't run a business - it's more of a personal thing I want: an online portfolio, which I hope will lead to future work
(non web obviously!).
Thats why I'd rather get it right - I'm a fussy devil!

All I want is to display my thumbs and big pics on the same page - with descriptions of each big pic!

Although still a web & js novice, I'm reasonably familiar with the script for TNV2 and I think I can deal with applying changes, if taken by the hand!
On saying that, any other ideas offering a similar result would be most welcome!

The original gallery javascript is at: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail2.htm

My site is at: http://www.mohawks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/2d_cats.htm
This is a sample page. There are a few pages online (about a 30% of what will be, eventually!)
I have many more galleries to add so I want to get it as good as poss!

The site's opening page is: http://www.mohawks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
The colours/background/graphics etc are totally editable: my ideas/colour schemes etc
have changed since so just ignore them!
Getting the js and layout right is the real issue!

Look forward to your response/s!
Thanks for reading!
You guys & gals are wonderful!

A sloppy but working demo that includes this and other modifications is here (http://home.comcast.net/~jscheuer1/side/files/thumb2.htm).

At last! That's what I want!
Now I just have to play around with it.
Thanks again John!
