View Full Version : getting Animated Collapsible DIV to work with page transitions

1) Script Title: Animated Collapsible DIV v2.4

2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/animatedcollapse.htm

3) Describe problem:

Animated Collapsible DIV works wonderfully, on its own. But I'd like to use it with this other script (the fasw Non-Jquery Page Transitions lightweight (http://www.fasw.ws/faswwp/non-jquery-page-transitions-lightweight/)) that provides a nifty slide effect to page transitions. Collapsible DIV works well alongside it, when the page first loads. But once a link that triggers page transitions is clicked, Collapsible DIV stops working, on the next page, or if you return back to page one.

So there must be something in the transitions that makes the collapsing stop firing? I just don't know what... I'm not a coder, I'm more of a designer, my code skills end at implementing already written scripts heh..... so I really need all the help I can get with this. I've spent the last two days trying out dozens of alternatives, but I haven't found any other scripts with the same functionality which would even begin to work together. I also googled javascript conflicts and gathered that I should try changing all variable and function names in the scripts so that the two scripts don't use any same ones. I tried, but no result. Either it didn't work, or I didn't do it right, I don't know. I'm really desperate now. I wouldn't be making this thread if I wasn't. :(

You can see an example of what I'm talking about here: http://www.yun0.net/slidertest/test1.html

If anyone can help with any kind of hint at all I will be eternally grateful!

I think this is your answer: http://www.fasw.ws/faswwp/non-jquery-page-transitions-lightweight/#comment-802 and http://www.fasw.ws/faswwp/non-jquery-page-transitions-lightweight/#comment-1269

The fasw link you posted is for a lightweight mobile js transition library and not intended for use with jQuery, which the Animated Collapsible Div script uses.

Are you specifically developing a mobile site? If not, you'd probably be better off searching for a page slide transition effect that uses the standard jQuery library so it and the DD script play nicely together.

If you are designing for mobile, try searching for a standalone collapsible div script that doesn't use jQuery. If you ask nicely, maybe one of the guys here will be able to whip up something like that for you. Of course, it might need to be posted in the Paid Help forum, but you never know.

Thanks for the reply!

Although it's what I hoped not to hear. I'm not designing for mobile, just an ordinary site. I thought the fact one script was jquery and one not would mean less conflict! How little I know. :(

The only other slider I've found that actually applies transitions between pages, not divs, is this:

but that's even worse, the two scripts completely disable each other... meh... thanks anyway! You've cleared a few things up now.
