This is my first attempt at making this script work; Can anyone help resolve this?

Never mind, the html code is declared as XHTML so I named the file with that extension and it was parsing it incorrectly as XML; also oddly the code says it is HTML but it is declared as XHTML, not sure if that is correct but it works now.

why didn;'t you just use an html extension? Also, what was the doctype on it?
