View Full Version : coding slump

This feels weird to be saying this, but for a couple of months I've been in a bit of a coding slump. I'm rather happy with my site and just don't feel the need or desire to start up or improve the scripts I've written. Recently I feel like I have been visiting the dd forums a little less too. It has nothing to do with this site. It may just be a temporary slump I'm in. Dunno.
Just musing out loud.

Hm, I feel like that's constantly the case for me, but because of other time commitments. Projects, especially important ones, come and go. Checking in here is often the only direct interaction I have with code some days... but at least it keeps me involved.
Maybe you just need a new project?

Thanks for the reply. A new coding project may do the trick. We'll see. At present there are a lot of other things that have kept my attention like you mentioned. Moving to Iowa, tests, work, games. That's probably the case here too.
I'm finally getting back into my long-term Framework project. (Fourth start-over.) upgraded my local server to PHP 5.4; that was a big incentive.

Hello again chaps - long time, no (erm) visit.
My bad I know - I'm just getting back into the swing of things now too after a long stint of family illness.
Seems way to long since I mingled with you all - Hope to see you all regularly on the DD forums again from today.
welcome back, dippy blonde : )
hope everything is okay with your family.

Ah, traq-y-poos. I've missed you! *dab, sniffle, bottom-lip-quiver*
We're getting there. Things have eased off on the life-stresses front so I'm raring to get stuck in again.
I must say, I've been rather lost without all of you logical coder-types keeping me on the straight and narrow. Just got to get back in the swing of things here with the DD crowd... deep breath... best behaviour... got my most sensible pink glasses perched on the edge of my nose end a cheeky quip tickling the tip of my tongue... ready... waiting...
The forum is looking rather snazzy since my return BTW :)

Hellooooooo,
And how is James? I hope we can overturn your slump. I hijacked your thread a little bit earlier but there's actually a compliment in there - when I logged on for the first time in forever, I did a quick skim down the latest threads and felt compelled to reply to yours first!
The slumps are majorly irk-worthy but I bet you'll have a new project underway soon. Take a little break to re-evaluate and something will come along in no time at all - tasks always do for productive people like you. I cant get over how much your post count has ramped-up in my absence - that's some busy-bee productivity right there!

And just to make things harder for you Beverley, I will now welcome you back, further distracting from James's original topic.... ;) Anyway, good to see you here.

(Now for another tangent...)
That's a crazy new avatar you have there, keyboard!

(to distract even more from the actual purpose of this thread)
Yep, I got bored of the old one and the transparent background/good quality copy of it went missing so it looked funny. Do you like the new one?

I'm not sure if I "like" it, but it certainly grabs my attention every time your posts load ;)
It's dynamic!

Now I'm awake!
I had this thread open on my BlackBerry from lastnight and refreshed to your avatar, keyboard - its nearly 6am and I almost wet myself laughing - the neighbours must think a complete loon lives next door!
Its actually my bday today so a hearty chuckle is a fab start to the day!

May several French walruses bless you with gifts of cheese and frankincense.

That's me, your friendly neighbour-hood Mr. Bean-Avatar Avatar wielding..... person
In my defense, that sentance made a lot more sense in my head...

Editor's note:
Keyboard does not own French walrus's nor does he have French cheese or frankincense

Thanks for the encouragement Beverlyh :) That is kinda nice to get the first post on your return and happy birthday!! I've been wondering what you were up to.
Heh, you'll overtake me in post count before you know it. I am not the most prolific of members. I seem to go on mini posting binges once in a while, but otherwise I like to read up on the latest threads.
I think you are right about me getting back into a new coding project soon. I think I just need to take a step back and recharge my coding batteries a bit. Even if I don't it will still be fun to hang out around the forums here.
