Hello everybody
I really learned alot about CSS etc through this website, thanks!
I'm working with this menu: jQuery Multi Level CSS Menu #2.
I changed the colour of the fonts during hover. I can't figure out how to ajust the .js in order make it use a different colour arrow as well (during hovering that is).
Can somebody show me a example of how to adjust the .js?
Thanks allready,
Jurgen

Use this updated version of the script:
/*********************
//* jQuery Multi Level CSS Menu #2- By Dynamic Drive: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/
//* Last update: Nov 7th, 08': Limit # of queued animations to minmize animation stuttering
//* Menu avaiable at DD CSS Library: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/
*********************/
//Update: April 12th, 10: Fixed compat issue with jquery 1.4x
//** Jul 23rd, '12: Unofficial update adds hover images for down and right arrows in the format: filename_over.ext
//** These must be present for whichever or both of the arrow(s) are used and will preload.
//** See: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showthread.php?p=278181#post278181
//Specify full URL to down and right arrow images (23 is padding-right to add to top level LIs with drop downs):
var arrowimages={down:['downarrowclass', 'down.gif', 23], right:['rightarrowclass', 'right.gif'], re: /\.(?=(gif)|(jpg)|(png))/i}
var jqueryslidemenu={
animateduration: {over: 200, out: 100}, //duration of slide in/ out animation, in milliseconds
buildmenu:function(menuid, arrowsvar){
arrowsvar.down[3] = arrowsvar.down[1].replace(arrowimages.re, '_over.');
arrowsvar.right[3] = arrowsvar.right[1].replace(arrowimages.re, '_over.');
jQuery(new Image()).attr('src', arrowsvar.right[3]);
jQuery(new Image()).attr('src', arrowsvar.down[3]);
jQuery(document).ready(function($){
var $mainmenu=$("#"+menuid+">ul")
var $headers=$mainmenu.find("ul").parent()
$headers.each(function(i){
var $curobj=$(this)
var $subul=$(this).find('ul:eq(0)')
this._dimensions={w:this.offsetWidth, h:this.offsetHeight, subulw:$subul.outerWidth(), subulh:$subul.outerHeight()}
this.istopheader=$curobj.parents("ul").length==1? true : false
$subul.css({top:this.istopheader? this._dimensions.h+"px" : 0})
$curobj.children("a:eq(0)").css(this.istopheader? {paddingRight: arrowsvar.down[2]} : {}).append(
'<img src="'+ (this.istopheader? arrowsvar.down[1] : arrowsvar.right[1])
+'" class="' + (this.istopheader? arrowsvar.down[0] : arrowsvar.right[0])
+ '" style="border:0;" />'
)
$curobj.hover(
function(e){
var $targetul=$(this).children("ul:eq(0)")
var overarrow=arrowsvar[this.istopheader? 'down' : 'right'][3];
$curobj.find('img:eq(0)').attr('src', overarrow)
this._offsets={left:$(this).offset().left, top:$(this).offset().top}
var menuleft=this.istopheader? 0 : this._dimensions.w
menuleft=(this._offsets.left+menuleft+this._dimensions.subulw>$(window).width())? (this.istopheader? -this._dimensions.subulw+this._dimensions.w : -this._dimensions.w) : menuleft
if ($targetul.queue().length<=1) //if 1 or less queued animations
$targetul.css({left:menuleft+"px", width:this._dimensions.subulw+'px'}).slideDown(jqueryslidemenu.animateduration.over)
},
function(e){
var arrow=arrowsvar[this.istopheader? 'down' : 'right'][1];
$curobj.find('img:eq(0)').attr('src', arrow)
var $targetul=$(this).children("ul:eq(0)")
$targetul.slideUp(jqueryslidemenu.animateduration.out)
}
) //end hover
$curobj.click(function(){
$(this).children("ul:eq(0)").hide()
})
}) //end $headers.each()
$mainmenu.find("ul").css({display:'none', visibility:'visible'})
}) //end document.ready
}
}
//build menu with ID="myslidemenu" on page:
jqueryslidemenu.buildmenu("myslidemenu", arrowimages)
It provides for (in this case) a:
down_over.gif
and a:
right_over.gif
I say "in this case" because whatever filename you use for each of these arrows, the script will look for an '_over' version of it for use with the hover effects.
So let's say you use different filenames, like:
//Specify full URL to down and right arrow images (23 is padding-right to add to top level LIs with drop downs):
var arrowimages={down:['downarrowclass', 'mydown.png', 23], right:['rightarrowclass', ''myright.png], re: /\.(?=(gif)|(jpg)|(png))/i}
In that case for the hover effects it will look for:
mydown_over.png
and:
myright_over.png
That's it. Any questions, just ask.
The browser cache may need to be cleared and/or the page refreshed to see changes.
If you want more help, please include a link to the page on your site that contains the problematic code so we can check it out.

Hello, I try too to implement the Jquery Multilevel CSS Menu #2 to my site. It's looking great and it works well as Button with links. Problem: There are no arrows shown and there is no drop down. I'm working with Golive CS2, Mac and FF 14.x.
Meanwhile I tried everything I could imagine to change code: .css works, .js shows no difference. Even changing doctype didn´t show any difference.
Same in Dreamweaver and Safari.
Where´s the bug??
