Hi,
One of my clients' website uses the Gantry Framework (v3.2.20) for Joomla! 2.5.6. We're currently using RocketTheme's Quasar template but I'm slowly building a bespoke template that further suits the client's needs.
One of the main features I need for the site is FullAjax (AJAX + AHAH); this will enable the site to be navigated while a radio player works seamlessly throughout.
I've found a Joomla! extension:

But there are many problems with the script when working with the Gantry Framework. For a start, the language .ini file isn't rendering into the Admin page, so all I see is the string placeholders instead. It's main problem though is that it wasn't designed to work on Gantry.
Gantry does have it's own custom Ajax Models, but from what I've seen, they are too arbitrary to be used for such a large conversion.
My question here in a few parts; firstly, does anyone have a working knowledge of Joomla!, and in particular, Gantry development and would be willing to work with me to build a Non Commercial FullAjax plugin for Gantry?
Next, if not, can anyone give me a place to start to develop my own. I'm not great at PHP, although I understand enough to get by. Converting a vanilla Joomla! extension to Gantry, though, is still beyond me.
Failing all else, are there any other extensions, like the one above, that would be more suitable for my needs? I can give more specific details and code samples if needed.
One last thing, as this has been driving me crazy trying to find out; are Joolma! 1.5 Native extensions compatible with Joomla! 2.5.6? I know that 1.5 Legacy extensions aren't, and 1.6/1.7 extensions are hit and miss, but I don't know about 1.5 Native. I've searched all over the place but only found very generic information about it.
