Hello everyone,
I'm tryingto run a exe file on my usb when I plug it into the computer. Autorun doesn't work on windows 7 on usb sticks...
Has anyone got a suggestion.
It's only for one usb stick.
Thanks, keyboard

Have you tried removing the files (temporarily) and formatting it. Then put all files back on it and try again.

That won't help with the problem I specified.

You could use a U3 Sandisk card.

I've already got the usb I want to do it with... I'd prefer to not have to go and buy anything...
P.s. What's a U3 Sandisk card?
What's a U3 Sandisk card?
it's a flash drive that has a Windows launcher/documents application integrated. AFAIK, they're no longer produced. I've got three or four of those drives (bought before I realized what they were), and they were nothing but trouble for me... never worked, impossible to uninstall, constant popup notifications/updates/driver installs.
Q. There is a problem with my computer. What should I do?

Thanks for the info Traq and the suggestion ApacheTech.
P.s. I am still looking for a solution...
my understanding was that autorun was actually disabled on purpose, as a security risk. I found a couple conversations on the subject, including this one (http://sevenforums.com/general-discussion/21585-usb-autorun-w7.html), but I honestly have no idea. I don't even use windows anymore.

What are you using (please don't be mac...:D)
Yes, they disabled it so you can't put virus onto peoples computers when yo plug in a usb and all that stuff...
I know they disabled it on windows 7. They've also stopped cds from being able to run programs automatically (now it just comes up with the autoplay window...)
I was wondering if there's a work around...
I use Linux (Ubuntu).
When I was using windows, I disabled auto run anyway.. that discussion I linked to was the closest answer I could find, though I couldn't test it, obviously

Hmmm, I looked at the powershell option... Might try it later (when I've got time). Thanks for that traq!

I probably shouldn't have bumped this but what if you took the U3 thingy, app, mini operating system and put it on another flashdrive. I haven't tried it yet but I used to use it to access off limit areas in locked down computers.

is there any way for a individual to let their operating system auto run files using a flash drive (usb), so that in this way, when one plugs in their flash drive (usb), that they will be able to auto run a .exe file using that flash drive (usb) device, please let me know if this is possible. Thank you. StantheMan
